Broadband needs vary depending on the size
and type of business you are. A local shop will need far less
bandwidth than say a graphic design
studio that need to download many images. If you imagine a motorway then
the bandwidth would be the number of lanes on the motorway. The bigger
the number the more traffic it can take. Broadband speeds are affected by two main elements. 1) the distance you are from the local BT exchange (the distance means length of cable not as-the-crow-flies or driving distance) and 2) the quality of the wire. In some areas fibre optic cable is used which is far better than standard copper. As a result some areas of the UK can have broadband speeds of 200 Meg whist others just get 1/2 Meg. There is also the business of contention (the number of people sharing the line to the exchange). We provide businesses with either 50:1, 20:1 10:1 or 1:1 broadband. We also offer to high internet dependency firms a 4 hour response time for broadband faults. Giving you peace of mid if the broadband goes off and requires a BT engineer to fix the issue they will be on-site fixing it in 4 hours. Many businesses are highly dependant on broadband internet connections for placing and receiving orders and email. If it goes down it is a major issue and therefore we encourage all our broadband dependant clients to take out our enhanced care package.
